CEO Thurmond Issues Third Executive Order Detailing “Path Forward” in Fight Against COVID-19
DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond issued an executive order to lay out a path forward from the COVID-19 emergency for businesses, residents and citizens. The order does not conflict with state orders, and provides a 30-day transition plan for the county.
The order is effective April 24 at 12 a.m. and may be amended as necessary in order to adapt to the ever-changing health and economic situation in DeKalb County.
“As we address the health issues of the pandemic, we cannot ignore the economic impact,” said CEO Thurmond. “Even as we flatten the curve, we cannot become overly comfortable and walk away from strategies that have worked so far.”

Local Company Improving Roads in DeKalb
DeKalb County’s special purpose local option sales tax (SPLOST) program is investing in DeKalb’s roads and its small businesses.
In August 2019, DeKalb-based H.E.H. Paving was awarded an $11.5 million contract to resurface 25 miles of the worst roads and streets in DeKalb. The company’s resurfacing list includes streets such as Rainbow Drive, Columbia Drive and River Road.
Sam’s Club is Teaming up with LISC to Support Small Business
LISC and Sam’s Club are providing grants of up to $10,000 to businesses facing immediate financial pressure because of COVID-19—especially entrepreneurs of color, women-owned businesses and other enterprises in historically underserved communities who don’t have access to flexible, affordable capital.

Statewide General Primary / Presidential Primary Election Moved to June 9, 2020
Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger has announced that, pursuant to the authority vested in him by O.C.G.A. § 21-2-50.1, he is postponing the Statewide General Primary/Presidential Preference Primary Election until June 9, 2020.
DeKalb County School District Announcement
The DeKalb County School District is announcing the plan to close the 2019-2020 school year. We will end the school year 4 days early on May 15th for grades PreK-11 instead of May 21st. The school year for Seniors will end on May 8th.

Agencies Implement Legislation Guaranteeing Coverage of COVID-19 Diagnostic Testing, Including Antibody Testing, and Certain Related Services without Cost Sharing for Enrollees in Private Health Coverage
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), together with the Departments of Labor and the Treasury, issued guidance today to ensure Americans with private health insurance have coverage of 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) diagnostic testing and certain other related services, including antibody testing, at no cost.
