2020 Census Jobs
The Census Bureau plans to hire thousands of residents of DeKalb County
These jobs are temporary, flexible, and pay well ($17-24/hr). Hiring has started and will continue until early next year. This is a great opportunity for residents who are housewives, college students, retirees, part time employees, teachers out for the summer or anyone looking to make extra money in their spare time. Also veterans will receive will 5-10 points added to their application which moves them higher up on the hiring list.

DeKalb Residential Sanitation Collection Delayed for Presidents Day Holiday
DECATUR, Ga. – In observance of Presidents Day on Monday, Feb. 18, garbage, recyclable materials and yard trimmings collection will run one day late for all customers.
Roots and Resilience: Discover the History of Flat Rock
New DeKalb History Center Exhibit Chronicles Historic African-American Community
DECATUR, Ga. – Flat Rock, one of the oldest African-American communities in the state of Georgia and a part of the Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area, is the subject of a new exhibit created by the DeKalb History Center and the Flat Rock Archives. The exhibit, Deep Roots in DeKalb: The Flat Rock Story of Resilience, opens in Decatur at the end of the month. As visitors learn about the people of Flat Rock and DeKalb County, they will discover a story of strength, ingenuity and resilience that continues to this day [Read More].
DeKalb Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs to Increase Safety in Parks with New Park Rangers
DECATUR, Ga. – DeKalb County Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs is continuing to make parks and recreational facilities safe for DeKalb County neighborhoods and communities, with the introduction of four new park rangers. The DeKalb County Board of Commissioners and CEO Michael Thurmond endorsed this initiative in 2018.
The rangers will ensure the safety of our parks, recreational facilities, trails and participate in community outreach and public awareness. Park rangers will be on duty seven days a week and will be under the supervision of DeKalb Park Police Coordinator, Officer Jean-Jacques Lambotte.

Park Pride’s 18th Annual
Parks & Greenspace Conference
Each spring, Park Pride hosts the annual Parks & Greenspace Conference, the largest parks conference in the southeast, showcasing thought leaders from Atlanta and across the nation. Through education and inspiration, the conference focuses on best practices for companies and individuals who are united by a common desire to improve parks and strengthen communities.

DeKalb Clerk of Superior Court to host
Free Notary Training March 8, 2019
Decatur, GA – DeKalb County Superior Court Clerk Debra DeBerry and the Georgia Superior Court Clerks’ Cooperative Authority are hosting two free notary training sessions on Friday, March 8, 2019. The first session is 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM and the second session is 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM.
This training workshop is open to the public and highly recommended to anyone who is a notary public in the State of Georgia or would like to become one. It is important to remember that a notary public should perform their duties to the utmost extent of the law, failure to do so could result in costly lawsuits and penalties as a notary is liable for his or her actions.

DISTRICT 5 COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT
PENDLEY HILLS ESTATES is a beautiful community. The HOA is going through transition currently with Angela McCallister Huff as Acting President. The Pendley Hills Estates Community has nearly 320+/- Single family dwellings and 15+ active Non Mandatory HOA members. The community/HOA has contributed to Rowland Elementary and has given to many families in need. The Pendley Hills Estates community has regular cleanups throughout the area and many gatherings related to Community Awareness, Safety, Health and Education.
We appreciate the Pendley Hills Estates Community and the HOA for all of their hard work and efforts.
