Good afternoon, Family, Friends & Neighbors:
I hope you had a great week! Yesterday, CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson brought together the Board of Commissioners for a great conversation about DeKalb County’s 2026–2027 legislative priorities. I am grateful for Madam CEO’s leadership and my colleagues for coming together to share about the upcoming legislative session at the federal and state levels.
There were a number of legislative priorities discussed — which the board will soon begin discussing in the County Operations (OPS) Committee. The Board will then vote to move the priorities ahead for advocacy at the State and Federal levels. I am appreciative of the unified front that DeKalb County will have as we approach our legislators at both levels to improve the quality of life in DeKalb County. In this week’s edition of the newsletter — you will find our 2025 Annual Report and information about our District 5 Mini-Grant application, which closes on next Tuesday, September 1, 2026. I encourage all community organizations and homeowners associations to submit your application for funding consideration for projects in your community that will impact and improve the County right-of-way. If me or my staff can be of assistance with any county related matter, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
