DeKalb County will open four warming centers for use this weekend.

Warming centers will be open in the following DeKalb County Fire Stations on Friday, Nov.18, Saturday, Nov. 19, and Sunday, Nov. 20, beginning at 8 p.m.

DeKalb to Host Thanksgiving Food Distribution

CEO Thurmond: ‘Skyrocketing food prices will be an unwelcome guest at Thanksgiving celebrations this year’

Beginning at 9 a.m., rain or shine, 5,000 boxes of food will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, at the following drive-through locations:

Residents will receive one 20-pound box of food that will include a dozen fresh eggs, and a 10-lb. bag of chicken hindquarters. Residents also will receive cookies, fruit juice and cereal especially for children.

DeKalb Announces Thanksgiving Sanitation Schedule

Decatur, Ga. – In observance of Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, Nov. 24, sanitation collection service for residential customers will be based on the following revised collection schedule:

Monday, Nov. 21 – Normal collection service.

Tuesday, Nov. 22 – Normal collection service.

Wednesday, Nov. 23 – Normal collection service.

Thursday, Nov. 24 – Thanksgiving Day observed; no collection service

Friday, Nov. 25 – Residential customers whose regularly scheduled collection day is Thursday, Nov. 24, will be serviced on Friday, Nov. 25.
